The exact origin of Dominoes is not known, but it is believed the game evolved from a game called Alquerque which was played in ancient Egypt as early as 600 B.C. Jaques started making Dominoes sets and game tiles as early as 1795 which were almost certainly made from ivory and are featured in Jaques early pattern books.

Each tile has a line dividing it into two squares and a number of spots (or 'pips') ranging from zero to six spots in each square end.
