The Lewis Chess Pieces are the second most famous chess design in the world, right after the standardized Staunton style. It is believed to be the oldest complete set of chessmen ever discovered. The original pieces were found by a local shepherd, and are on display in the British Museum and the Museum of Edinburgh.
