Thuis wonderful game of croquet was Invented by John Jaques II and introduced to the world at the Great Exhibition in 1851. This amazing achievement won him a Gold Medal. This wonderful backyard game is an enduringly popular sport all over the world. The game is played with mallets, hoops and is a hugely enjoyable outdoor activity for all the family, playable at all levels, yet encompasses the need for tactics, strategy and skill in equal measure. Lewis Carroll – a relative of the Jaques family and author of Alice in Wonderland – was an avid croquet player and an anarchic version of the game is featured in this legendary novel.
