How to play in Chess Tournaments
Contemporary Chess is a highly organized game with structured national and international league, tournaments and events for players at all levels culminating in the World Chess Championship played to determine the World Champion Chess player in any one year. Both men and women are eligible to enter world championship tournaments although it should be noted that World Champions are not necessarily the number one ranked players by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) at any one time.
Other worldwide competitions for chess playing individuals include the United states Chess Championship, the World Junior Championship, the European Individual Championship and the National Championships or any participating counteries. Other elite Chess tournaments include Spain's Linares event, Monte Carlo's Melody Amber tournament, the Dortmund Sparkassen meeting and Wijk aan Zee's Corus tournament.
